I was so much smarter
when I was younger
I might have had
something to say

now I'm doing the crosswords
scrounging for lost words
feel a little dumber each day

     I thought life was so rich
     with experience 
     and timeless wisdom

     now I'm a mechanical monkey
     beating his drum
     waiting for something to come

I wish I had answers
cures for cancers
or mathematic theorems

but the best I can do
is say the answers inside you
if you can hear 'em
